Accomplishments
This page showcases my accomplishments as a Prince George's County School Board Member, highlighting my efforts to enhance outcomes across our schools.

Research Study to Improve Educator Talent Pool
Secured $50,000 in budget funding to support a revamped onboarding program for new PGCPS hires—including a full day of learning, branded materials, and Gallup strengths assessments—aimed at strengthening organizational culture, improving retention, and addressing the teacher shortage.
Revamping the Onboarding Process
Secured $84,000 in budget funding for PGCPS to partner with Hanover Research on strategies to address the teacher shortage, strengthen recruitment and staffing, and improve the district’s public perception.

School Year 2023-2024
During the 2023–2024 school year, I focused on addressing the district’s teacher shortage by supporting policies and initiatives to strengthen recruitment, retention, and educator support. Key accomplishments include:
Funding for Teacher Academy of Maryland
In SY'24, I successfully secured $170,000 in guaranteed funding for the Teacher Academy of Maryland in the FY25 school budget.

Funding for Resident Teacher Program
Secured $300,000 in budget funding to expand the PGCPS Resident Teacher Program by creating two specialist roles dedicated to strengthening teacher pipelines, supporting career-changers, and growing a sustainable pathway to certification.
Funding for In-Person Professional Learning Space
Secured guaranteed funding for an in-person professional learning space to enhance teacher retention efforts.

School Year 2022-2023
In the 2022–2023 school year, I worked to advance student achievement, strengthen governance, and ensure accountability across the district, while advancing a piloted literacy initiative. Accomplishments include:

Additional Funding for Teacher Shortage
In SY'23, I secured $150,000 in budget funding to create a new FTE role focused on building educator pipelines, strengthening teacher retention, and developing principal preparation partnerships to address PGCPS’ teacher shortage and leadership crisis.
Literacy Pilot Program
A colleague and I secured a $400,000 partnership with the University of Maryland's MILE literacy program to enhance academic literacy outcomes at Hollywood Elementary School in College Park, MD. The program has since expanded to other schools in the county.

School Boundary Policy Improvements
Amendments to Board Policy 0113 were approved and adopted as system-wide policy, enhancing communication strategies to help families access important information about boundary changes. These updates also provide clear guidelines for key considerations when selecting students for boundary adjustments.
Inclusive Policy Improvements
Successfully advocated for the adoption of gender-inclusive language in key Board and administrative policies, which was approved by the Board. This initiative promotes a more inclusive environment where all students feel recognized and valued.
